The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

In the midst of creative giants, I walked, gaping in awe and admiring what can only be described as a legacy to all mankind. Here it lay, hidden away in a remote part of the Internet, and it was I who had found it. But, who would believe me, were I to rave about what I had found, as justice, itself, no doubt demands of me? So, I've made a little progress on the MapThing suite recently. Unfortunately it's not on HillThing though. After recently spending an inordinately long time drawing, redrawing and shading a simple border I decided that I'd have a crack at automating some of the process.
