The town of Cliffton was founded by the Janson Family in 1753. Gregory Janson, well renound builder and heir to a very rich father, moved his family; Wife, Mary Florence Bransmith and their 5 boys, Henry, John, David, Edward and the youngest Bronson, to establish a new settlement south of their home in Hounston. With his wealth, Gregory hired many trade workers to get the small town started. It took several years to finally establish a working town. They named the town Cliffton, as they founded it on the Northern Cliff of the Three Cliff Sisters, hoping to, one day, build on all three cliffs, the roads on the other two cliffs were already built as trade routes to both Hounston and the southern city of Bringhamston. After just 13 years, the population grew for the established 76 people, to 253. At the time, most of the housing buildings were split into several homes for seperate families.

    Places of interest:

    1. Lord Janson Manor - Lord Gregory Janson, was given the title of Lord soon after establishing the town and in honour of the title given, some of the workers volunteered to build a Manor fitting for title and big enough to house his family. It was finished in November 1757.

    2. North Road - The North Road was built several years earlier as a connecting road between Hounston and Bringhamston to the south.

    3. Western Markets - The Markets were one of the first set of buildings established, after most of the housing, to accomedate the traveling traders between the cities to the north and south.

    4. Cliffton Farm - The Farms were established by Henry, the eldest Janson son, he lives there with his Wife Victoria Maree, with their young boy Gregory.

    5. First Docks - The Docks were built during 1758 after it was found that the surrounding waters and rivers were streaming with fish. It quickly became a key industry in the establishment of the town.

    6. Northern Briddge - The Northern Bridge was built several years before the founding of the town, as part of the Trade Route between the cities to the north and south.

The stream should join the river as more of a "Y" and less of a "T".
Roads are dificult to maintain, overgrowing with weeds/grass in about a year of disuse and returning to a forest after 5 years of disuse.
You have a lot of roads to nowhere that would probably not survive long, I respectfully suggest that one road between the cities and across the bridge, plus the roads connecting the buildings in town, plus two or three roads heading from town into the farm fields would be plenty.
All this is strictly IMHO - your map, your world ... so your rules are 'correct'.

    Overall, a really good start.
I like the buildings, docks and town layout.
Could use some woods, but there is plenty of room for them (and it is a WIP).

Over the next 13 years, Cliffton almost doubled in both size and population, with the population hitting 500 in the early months of 1778. The fishing industry almost doubled with the new residents moving into the town, so inturn, new docks were built, along with new warehouses. New farms where established by four different families as demands for fresh fruit and vegetables were needing to be met. Also, with the new tennants, new housing was needing to be built and was done so fairly quickly. Some of the growing population brough some not so pleasant people, so the Courthouses were built to include a few holding cells underneath to building.

The next 6 years proved fruitful for the small town of Cliffton. There was enough resources to build stone housing and also a northern wall to help protect the town. For the time being there were no known threats, but Cliffton was quickly becoming a crutial stratigic point for the nation. With the docks pre-existing, it became a small trade point for sea traders. With these new traders, the markets were extended and upgraded, which brought me travelers and in turn created the need for a new Inn. The Dancing Horse Inn, owned by the Kinlason Family, was established in 1782 in an old housing building. Over the next few years, it was planned to finally establish ground on the southern banks.

It seems a bit odd to me that the Western Markets are on the far east of the map, and the Northern Bridge is so far the southernmost structure of the town.

    It's looking good so far.
