Default The Sunset Coast and the Middling Realms

Recently I have been commissioned by an author to make a couple of maps to accompany his books. I was asked to make the maps as if they were made by a late renaissance cartographer who lived in that world, and even to draw from the point of view of that cartographer. I got to try a lot of new things with these maps and the process was great fun altogether.

I sort of got to work together with Thomrey on these maps as he was commissioned to draw them in print-ready black&and white maps (see his thread also!)

The setting is a renaissance era dark-low fantasy world where a new continent has been discovered in the west.

Equally beautiful, but totally different! Amazing how you have both (you and thomrey) produced such different maps of the same world! Wonderful

Agree with Mouse. Awesome maps, and so nice you two worked together on those.

This is really great, both sets of maps in the same day! So cool you guys worked together on this and great to see how the different styles came out.
I love your subtle use of colour in this Dan, it kind of reminds me of how the pips sometimes really pop out on playing cards!

Afraid I can't rep you at the moment as much as I'd like too.

Wow, these are wonderful! You really nailed the antique-ish style. Fantastic lineart, wonderful use of color and delightful illustrations to go with them. Top-notch work, well done!

I'm afraid I can't rep you at the moment, but consider yourself mentally repped

Wow, these are quite impressive, love the colors!! rich and time honored. The graphic elements work perfect with the map and style. Beautiful job.

Small critique - maybe some shadowing on the shield graphics?

Maybe a base under all the graphic elements (horses/field of bones looks good - jousting knights and donkeys kind of float?

Sorry cann't rep you right now will come back. Love your work!!

Great set of maps Dan! Great antique style, it looks like it might be less labour intensive than Thomrey's.
    Wonderful work as always.
