    Map City of Raijuvak

The last map so far for the Avalanche project, the city of Raijuvak

Hand drawn (apart of the forests), scanned and processed in PS.

I like that color scheme so much better than a true medieval color scheme, very easy on the eyes.

This came out very nice. The tree houses are intriguingly anomalous in this style. Those trees also seem surprisingly large compared to the rest.

    Thank you all.

The trees: it was not unusual on medieval maps that persons or buildings where at a 'false' relation in size. For example here and here. I made the trees especially bigger to emphasize their meaning; you can think of them as a kind of skyscraper.

Did You really draw this by hand? Though the city is small, the work had to be quite tedious. Very nice.

I like the hand-drawn elements; they give a nice primitive style. Unfortunately, the blackletter font seems jarring to me in that context. It's too regular, too machine-made. A little distortion in shape, possibly just in the baselines of the characters might make a big difference.

Apart of the surrounding forest everything is handdrawn.

Good point. But there's still the possibility of printing the letters. Then the map would be hand drawn while the text is the product of a printing press.
