I am often amused by how a slight change in apparent scale due to a lack of context results in a completely different perception of things. Here where I live I can see several mountain ranges stacked on in front of another over a distance of about 60 miles. On days with clear air it's not easy to tell that it's not all just one range about 10 miles away. On days when it's a little hazy, though, you can easily see the difference. On really hazy days like we've been having lately due to fires in another set of mountains, you often can't even see a couple of the farther-off ranges.

But that tube could be used to make a good thatched village. Small ones around the edge for palisades, medium ones for smaller huts, and a couple of large ones for the big community huts. It'd be an interesting technical challenge to see what types of ambiguous symbols could be used over a range of scales to result in a final image. All fractally and stuff.
