Shouldn't it be something based on "Arcana", it would seem a good way to say thanks.

I think "Arcanus" would make a wonderful University City or magic center.

As to the name of the whole world I think you should pick something that you can sustain and revive for the whole site.

Cartos Has a decent ring to it.

Seriously, you could also adopt the name of the project and commit yourself to never giving the world an official name. Let the person who uses it name it for themselves. Underscores their role in giving it life.

The other thing that you might consider is that I believe there is a sister site to Cartographers Guild

    http://www.thecbg.org/news.php

    And

    http://www.plotstorming.com/

It might be an elegant thing to solicit involvement, in some manner, from the other sites. At some stage you will want more people if you want to push through to the whole world.

I think I need more sleep because I read that as two words the first time. "Arcanata" or "Arcanatus" is less prone to misinterpretation by folks like me, I think.

When I was an egotistical DM and made my former PC a near-god after making the transition from PC to DM I had a city in my world called Arcania. I must say though, I'm flattered by the sentiment!!!

Anyone wanna see my anus? (PLEASE get that joke...Its pretty crude, and I don't want it to be read without Waldronate's initiation.

In the case somebody would want to see it, he'd be viewing the arch-anus.
It's some people can't count the planets, jumping directly from Saturn to Neptune.
