Now I am experimenting with different building styles. I am pretty happy with this, but wanted to see what others thought.

I think your map looks fantastic.

The shapes look great for your buildings, but the colours seem too saturated for my taste. I would mute them or grey them up or tone them down a bit.

But that is just my subjective opinion.

I'm with Phil here, tone down the colors a tad so that they don't stand out so much. It's like they're saying "Hey, look at me". Not a whole lot but a tad. Again, my opinion as well.

That is looking good, though. Was wondering what you were going to do with the buildings. Love to see it zoomed out (I know, most people want to see it zoomed in! )

What are the roundish things in the walled area? Tents? Yurts?

Grain silos. The only reason that I zoomed in that close is because that was all that I have done so far. I am working on the rest of the city now.

Wow, that detail is fantastic... the layout looks convincing and I like how you worked in some green patches and trees. Looks very convincing.

I haven't posted anything on this in a while because I was mad at myself. I had done a lot of work to get the city almost finished, and then I was converting a large area over to a smart object, and my computer froze up, so I lost all of my work (about 5 hours worth). I can't believe that I was such an idiot that I didn't save my work. So I set this aside for a while, but I am back on the job now and wanted to post the latest WIP.

One more option I thought of. I am using the background that I created in Photoshop, and imported it into CC3 and used the CD3 symbols to map the city. I think I like this, but wanted some other opinions.

I like how this is progressing! I particularly like the overall shape of the city, and the level of detail and amount of work going into this are paying off. Personally, the buildings, cobbled roads and walls seem a bit sharp in contrast with the softer background, but you did mention you'll be working on the background at the very end. I do like the shapes of the buildings and just studying this map is teaching me a whole lot about placement, but the colors are feeling a bit too varied - unless the people living there really like a wide variety of roof colors or those colors are just for the map to differentiate between types of buildings, I don't really think there would be that many different colors. Not for roofs anyway. Definitely like how this is coming along, though!

That looks great. I can't understand why you switch your city from PS to CC3, but you will have your reasons. Be careful with CC3, there the city is very large. I had problems with my last city, which had about 1050 buildings plus walls etc. CC3 crashed very often.
