Wip Mar / Apr 2016 Lite Challenge: The Compass Rose Garden

I think I'm going to throw my hat in the ring here because I LOVE compass Roses...I've always wanted to make a building that was in the shape of a compass rose and then use it also as a mapping element as well. This was inspired by a sketch I saw a long time ago on DeviantArt. I'm going to go my own way with it but for now here's a very early perspective render of it.

Also...if anyone feels it's unfair for me to join this challenge, I'll gladly bow out with no hard feelings at all. Maybe even keep going with my entry, but be excluded from the voting. There's also a chance I won't finish in time.

I don't know which is weirder, having the Leader of the Guild join the the Lite Challenge, or the fact that you do qualify to enter because you have absolutely no mapping awards!

Since I guess the decision is up to me, this is what I will do. Robbie is welcome to enter the challenge. He deserves to have some fun just like the rest of us, and I look forward to seeing what he does with this idea. If no one complains, then he stays in. If anyone is uncomfortable or feels it is not fair then please email me by standard email so you can be relatively anonymous. Bogie's Hotline so to speak. If I get more than one or two negatives then I won't include him in the voting. My email I use for mapping related stuff is Bogiemaps (at) Gmail (dot) com

Robbie mostly does 3D, like this compass rose. I've never actually seen a map he created, so yeah, there should be no reason to not let him participate. I'd love to see what he comes up with!

Cool, don't think I've seen any maps by you It looks nice so far and it's an awesome idea, looks like a proper headquarters for the Cartographer's Guild

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be allowed, Robbie!

It's a really cool idea and I hope you do finish it on time!

Had a little time to work on this some more...Added some sidewalks and some columns and started fooling a little with texture. Ultimately this has to look good as an aerial render, and I'd like it to also be a decent map symbol, so I got a bit more figuring out still.

Thanks for letting me play along! I'm still ok to not be voted on though.

Yeah, this looks classy! Have not much experience with 3d rendering, but i'll follow it closely. Also see no reason, why you shouldn't participate fully in this challenge.
