This looks great so far! Will you have a key or a legend at some point? I can tell what most of the different colors are representing but not all of them. For instance, I can't guess what that purpleish-grey texture at the top of the cliffs is. Some type of vegetation?

Hi Tiluchi, I´ll attach a key or legend in the nearer future in order to make the map more readable. I´m happy, you like my map and thank you for any ideas and critiques.

To make a little planning for the future, I decided to take the following steps in the next three or four weeks:

step 01: finish the vegetation and optimize the color scale of it, because the difference between different vegetation should be better worked out
step 02: recreating the final coastlines and adding another shading for it
step 03: creating a little overview map in order to locate, where the island is located
step 04: creating and attaching a kind of legend
step 05: creating special points of interest and the legend for them
    step 06: correctional works
step 07: aging the map to an "ancient" epoque, transferring it into more yellow and red and brown and creating an "old paper" look
    step 08: last correctional works
    step 09: finish

Today I took the chance of going a little further in step 01, even upgrading the colour gradients:

Nice and original. Do you plan to add shadings? I think some subtle shading would add a lot to visualize the topography.

    Hi Ilanthar,

I´m thinking of shadings, yes. At a later time I will attach this map onto an old paper background but I thing that would fit good with a subtle shading as well.

Oh, ich wusste gar nicht, dass es hier noch mehr leute "vom hohen Ufer" gibt... I like your cliffs a lot, and it's quite interesting in combination with the more "technical" looking settlements and agricultural/forest areas. Maybe you could add more lineweight to the rest of the coastline for better balance, as the cliff linework looks a bit heavier. Looking forward to see it with a parchment background.
    Map is not territory...

Na schau die Welt ist klein. Darum macht es wohl Spass, eigene Karten zu erstellen. Fine to meet someone of my hometown in Hanover.

Thank you for your tips. Some good hints for the ongoing process...
