Here is a historic looking town map I am working on for a Lovecraft themed board game. It's gradually coming along. I just started out doing maps and obviously have a lot to learn but I am enjoying the experience immensely.

Interesting start - I like the aged look of the "canvas"

Very nice. I like the hatching and the slight drop shadow to the blocks. Some of the dead-end roads coming out of the city look a bit weird though (although that may be explained later on). I prefer the fading road end look like you have in the NW.
Captured the look well!
(for ref as you are aware, but others may not be, here is a similar styled map of NYC)

Yep, that is pretty much the look I am after. Here is another example Paris_1800. Obviously I have a long way to go but I'll press on.(for ref as you are aware, but others may not be, here is a similar styled map of NYC)
I used a similarly styled map as a base for my Shadizaar map from a few months ago.

I've gotta try this sometime. Looks good so far.

Some minor progress, lost the red border, worked on the paper a bit, added a forest that looks rather bad, removed roads to nowhere.
