This is a commission fr the play map for an iPad game under development. The mechanics are mostly complete, and the developer is commissioning game resources. Here is a map I'm working on for the demo game:

I was given a lot of latitude in this. The map request was to "create the game map in the same hand-drawn style as The Quary and Towne of Lymeport" and the costrains were to use the following guide:

along with "the player can't move into the red", and a reference some concept art (can be seen at the dev blog).

I drew up a 2 ft by 3 ft sketch (pencil on paper) and sent that for approval, then scanned it into the computer and started drawing (gimp, all with the ink tool) with that as a reference layer, and a hex grid to help me keep scale....

I still need to add some crystal formations, lots of vines, and colour the whole thing...
