Default [Award Winner] Step-by-step 3D-ish mapping

heya, I did a quick step-by-step how I usually draw 3d-ish maps. Been wanting to do some tuts on handdrawn stuff for some time but I'm terrible at making tuts and I usually just scribble along. I had to take a break from my work and did a 30mins picture-sequence and dropped that in a jpg (hope you can read my handwriting . If people are interested, I may do a more elaborate one (with some more hints/tips and coloring and stuff), but I'm not sure if this kinda step-by-step description is usefull at all for people to learn how to draw these kind of maps. So let me know what you think ... of course, in the end its all practise practise... cheers!

Thanks for posting this, DJ! I've always wondered how to go about making mountains in this style, and never had a clue. This makes it look doable even for the artistically challenged like me. Consider thyself repped

That's Kickin, Dj! And for my two cents worth, a tutorial is a tutorial, regardless of the presentation. I think this works just great for the hand-drawn look, especially given the fact that it is, well, hand-drawn.

Very nice. I'd love to see more tuts for hand-drawn maps.
