Oooooo pretty... I can't rep you because of the rep I gave you for the conversion of Ascension's atlas tut... but THIS is going in my list of ways to do things...
Someday... perhaps someone should go back and put RobA's tutoral(and his mountain tutoral update) and this together as a "revised region tutorial"

Nicely written tutorial. I'll be trying this one too!
Currently using Photoshop CS3, GIMP, MapTool, and planning to try Inkscape, Illustrator and Wilbur "real soon now."
Running and playing as much 4e as I can.
