Technically, no.

The idea of the challenge is to make an attempt at meeting the criteria for a Monthly Challenge within a short 25 day+ period of time, as if it were a professional commission. Its intended to be a test of your skills in meeting the challenge - a learning experience as much as a contest among peers. The goal is the meet the challenge, not necessarily win. Many of us probably have past maps that meet a challenge criteria, but otherwise does not meet the requirements. So we can't do that.

Use your experience from the map you created before to give you ideas in making a new map. This should give you a leg up, if you've done an exceptional map in the past that fits the theme.

sadly I don't have the time to do a map in a month
a full time job and a 10 month old child are time consuming occupations ...

but i'll watch the results with pleasure

I am guessing i cant pull an image off of google, sign my name and call it a day?

Are we allowed to use some images from google? like buildings/boats?

As long as they are not copyrighted images, you should be OK to use them.

I'm thinking isometric views, ballistae in operation with stones in the air and hitting the castle walls, piles of dead bodies, blood running in the river, troops in movement, burning fires, maybe a dragon strafing in... more like a momentary slice of a battle in action, rather than just a map... that's what is percolating with me at the moment.

Pictures are pretty, but this is a mapping challenge....

Uhm, it's a Map of a BATTLE, right? Not an entire campaign or a war, or is that ok too?

As long as they are not copyrighted images, you should be OK to use them.

Also just to be clear: You must assume images "on google" are copyrighted by default, and are only OK to use if marked otherwise.
