I've always thought a dragon was a mix between a snake, a bird or bat and a lion in the original concept of a dragon-like being. 2 out of 3 don't have nipples, so maybe they shouldn't be there. I've never felt dragons are specifically reptillian over its other attributes - how many lizards breath fire, fly, use magic, speak. Perhaps dragons are the ultimate combination of the 4 elements. My first intro to dragons was long before I ever played D&D, so I'm not so Gygaxian based in my understanding of dragons or fantasy.

I can't say for sure that my dragons wouldn't have nipples - call it artistic license.
