    So I have a slightly unrelated question - what program are you using to convert the heightfield to a 3D render?

    @jfrazierjr - the 3D one and the top one are the same! Just the viewpoint prevents you from seeing the repetitions.

    Yea, I know... it's just that the hidden repetitions make the 3D view look so much more realistic...
