That map style doesn't show rivers going through forests is all. Otherwise it looks like a fairly standard river network flowing out of a large lake on the right to a delta at the top left.

I think you are correct. I was suffering from optical inversionitis, and was seeing the forested valleys as hills...

(As a bit of explanation... We get many, many newcomers posting maps where rivers branch. So much that it became a bit of a pet peeve of mine. I gained a bit of a reputation as a sticker for improbable rivers, hence my self designation as "River Police".)
